SUMMARY:Spring Back to Business
DESCRIPTION:What do two of the best business events industry organizations have in common? Amazing leaders\, innovative culture\, comradery\, diversity – you say? These are all true\, but what makes these characteristics possible is our phenomenal members\, and it’s time to get to know one another in a new and innovative way. \nPlease join MPI Potomac and PCMA Capital Chapter as we spring back to business with our first ever “Edu-networking” event. \nThursday\, May 26th\, 2022 \n4pm-8pm\, EDT\nOmni Shoreham Hotel \nWe’re all feeling a little rusty these days when it comes to networking at business events. Let’s get back to basics with a short presentation and panel discussion on member engagement and networking. \nThen apply what we’ve learned during our interactive networking session. We’ve pulled out all the stops with garden games on the hotel patio and gardens\, cocktails\, demonstrations\, and plenty of time to meet new people and catch up with those we haven’t seen in a long time. We even have a few surprises up our sleeve. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nHow to engage members that have canceled their membership or stopped participating in their respective chapters.\nHow to network in our next normal business environment\nWhat have we learned from virtual networking and how can it enhance in-person networking of the future?\nHow networking is now different for planners and suppliers and what can be done to strengthen relationships.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSuppliers:\nRegister as a Supplier Plus and your registration includes you and two planners. \nPlanners:\nWant to attend but don’t have the funds?  Let us know and we can find you a sponsor. Please contact MPI Potomac at info@mpipotomac.org or 202-422-5186 to be added to the list. \n\nMeet the Speakers:\nModerator:\nTyra Dyson\, CMP\, DES\nNational School Boards Association \n\n\n\n\n. \n. \n\n\n\n\n\nCheryl Jamall\nACJ Meetings & Events \n. \n. \n\nMargaret Miller\, CMP\nMaritz Global Events \n. \n. \n\nTravis Peterson\nMarriott International \n. \n. \n\n\n\n\n\nWill Trokey\, CMP\nVisit Charlotte \n. \n.\n.\nThank You to Our Sponsors

SUMMARY:Virtual Lunch and Learn: The RFP of the Future
DESCRIPTION:Visitor sentiments in 2019 were already shifting\, but the last two years have expedited the process greatly while also simultaneously providing a heightened awareness of the value of the industry. The attendee and event needs have changed and have put both Destination Experts and Business Events Strategists in a place where the “next normal” provides an opportunity for deeper evaluation\, deeper partnership and deeper impact. The industry has pushed pause on the copy and paste RFP and officially welcomed the “RFP of the Future”. \nLearn what the key factors are for both the destinations and event strategist in the sourcing and selection process\, and more importantly how they can work together to maximize ROI for all stakeholders. \nStick around after the presentation for an Unplugged Session from 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm. This open discussion forum will be moderated by Stephen Jackson\, Associate Director of Sales for Visit Raleigh. \nCE Credit: PCMA CC has been approved by the Events Industry Council (EIC) as a Preferred Provider of the below-listed continuing education courses\, which qualify for CMP continuing education credit. SUMMARY:Run/Walk Challenge 2021
DESCRIPTION:Be sure to select Capital Chapter as your team! Our team password is pcmawalks\nAll PCMA Chapters are coming together for the month leading up to PCMA EduCon to celebrate all that PCMA is doing for our communities; to foster engagement with members\, to promote collaboration across chapters\, to generate fun competition/rivalry\, and to support our industry friends who were impacted by the pandemic. \nAll proceeds from this run will go to the PCMA Foundation to support our many industry friends who were hard hit by COVID-19. If you do not want to run or walk\, you can also donate to this great cause. \nAnyone can participate! If someone belongs to more than one chapter\, they must select one chapter to participate with. There is no limit to how many participants each chapter can have. However\, each participant must run/walk at least 5 miles in order for those miles to be counted towards the chapter’s total. \nThe chapter with the greatest participation will be awarded a special PCMA education program. \nLet’s have fun and get moving! Contact chapters@pcma.org or your local chapter at capital@pcma.org with any questions.
